Winemaking notes
Santa Carolina, the producer of this wine has real heritage. They put wines from Chile on the world stage, with the Reserva de Familia Cabernet Sauvignon winning a gold medal at the “1889 Exposition Universelle” in Paris. This was the first time a wine from Chile was recognised by Europeans.
The quality is exceptional and amazing value. Be careful not to drink this wine too cold as it hides the flavours. It just needs to be slightly chilled, not cold. Take a sip when you first take the bottle out the fridge and then again after 30 minutes – you will taste a whole new level of flavour. Good wine doesn’t need to be freezing cold – only bad wine does.
Viticultural notes
The grapes were handpicked and 100% barrel fermented, 30% of which in new French oak. The wine was then aged for 6 months in bottle before release. It’s complex, you can taste all the different flavours from the first sip.
Tasting notes
Chardonnay is one of the most amazing grape varieties and makes some of the best white wines in the world. Trust me this wine is stunning!
